The Quilts of Valor Foundation was formed in 2003 when a Blue Star mother with a son deployed in Iraq felt only ten seconds away from panic.  That mother formed the Foundation in an effort to cover all combat service members and veterans with a comforting and healing quilt.  This remains our mission today. As of December 2025, over 430,000 quilts have been awarded.
